Kikosewin FRN is teaming up with the PAC team to offer a FREE weekly drum circle for youth ages 13-17! Folks will start by making their drum and stick on the first two Sundays with Elder Tom Snow. Then, on Wednesday evenings, we will come together in circle each week with singer & drummer, Steven O’Chiese, for drum teachings and to learn to play some songs! Folks of all genders*, skill levels and abilities are welcome! Materials and snacks will be provided.
- Drum Making: Sunday, October 6 @ 1:00pm - 4:00pm
- Stick Making & Ceremony: Sunday, October 13 @ 1:00pm - 4:00pm
*Recognizing that different Nations across Turtle Island have many different drum teachings, this program will be open to folks of all genders; males, females, Two Spirit, and gender diverse folks. Any interested youth are welcome to register while there are still spaces available. We ask everyone to be respectful of however other folks identify themselves while in our spaces.
**As drums are sacred items, we will follow moontime protocols throughout the program. Please let us know if this may apply to you, as we will provide guidance for folks on their moontime, so they can still meaningfully participate in a good way that respects protocols.
