Job description
INDIGENOUS SUPPORT – NAVIGATION and SUPPORT CENTER
Indigenous cultural support to individuals at the Navigation Centre (for the houseless community) including the provision of referrals to appropriate Indigenous programing or services in the community including but not limited to warm handoffs to Elders in the community as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Indigenous cultural supports and services to individuals at the Centre during the hours of operation.
- Position will be based out of Edmonton’s Navigation Center
- Refer individuals to appropriate Indigenous programming or services in the community.Provide warm handoffs to Elders in the community as appropriate.
- Facilitate connections to home communities where applicable.
- Support Indigenous cultural connections as needed. Build relationships with First Nations Communities.
- Establishing strong relationships with families and children at the Centre.
- Establish strong relationships and work in collaboration with our community partners
- Link community members to community partners resources for continued support.
- Completion of contact notes and data entry.
Qualification Requirements:
- Human Services degree or diploma; equivalencies will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years work-related experience.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.
- Experience working with Indigenous community.
- Database experience is an asset.
- Experience with housing resources an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check (within a 6-month period from date of completion). Preference will be given to applicants who have these clearances completed by date of interview.
Salary & Benefits:
- $47431.68 – $49,803.25 yearly starting salary
Paid sick and wellness days after 3 months’ probation (pro-rated) - Extended Health Benefit (50/50 cost sharing) after 6 months’ employment.

Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
Monday to Thursday – 815am-430pm; Fridays 9:00am-4:30pm (every second Friday off)
